Ishigaki Women’s NVC Retreat

Coming Home to Inner Liberation and Leadership

Journeys of transformation and inner liberation often brings us into contact with human questions, such as:

  • How can I remain true to myself while still staying connected with others?

  • Where in my life am I holding back my authentic voice in order to belong?

  • How can I express my truth without loosing connection with people I care about?

  • How do I navigate expectations and roles placed on me while staying connected to my own inner guidance?

  • What might become possible if I allowed myself greater honesty, freedom, and self-trust?

But, what if the intense questions and inner conflicts within us are not signs that something is wrong, but invitations into a deeper integration of who we are becoming?

What if they are not problems to solve, but doorways for exploration and greater inner connection?

Welcome to the Ishigaki Women's NVC Retreat:
Coming Home to Inner Liberation.

This retreat is designed as a small, intimate space for those who identify as women, who find themselves on a journey towards inner liberation, internal or external transformation, leadership from the heart, or personal growth.

Many of us, in our inner journeys, encounter a "push and pull" between belonging and authenticity. Belonging asks us to stay connected, to seek acceptance and approval, to be a

part of a community. Authenticity asks us to be honest with ourselves and express our truth. This experience of being "torn" in two different directions can pressurise us to maintain belonging by hiding parts of ourselves, or to be authentic in ways that lead to feeling isolated or incomplete.

Particularly as we explore our inner worlds with more compassion and authenticity with ourselves, this tension can show up as complex "split" inner experiences, such as shame, guilt, anger, or despair. These are complex emotions which arise from a combination of emotional intensity and the thoughts attached to those experiences, rooted in binary thinking about rightness and wrongness.

And yet, the deeper invitation of transformation is not to choose one over the other, but to discover how authenticity AND belonging can exist together.

Our retreat in Ishigaki offers a supportive and reflective space to explore that journey. Together, we will create a safe community space where we can slow down, listen inwardly, and explore our own experiences of change.

Through the lens of Nonviolent Communication, participants will explore ways to move beyond these internal splits. The retreat offers pathways for working with internal dissonance, conflicting needs, and emotionally charged experiences, so that people can gradually shift from “either/or” thinking toward a more integrated “both/and.”

In this retreat, we will explore how to bring together both of these aspects of ourselves, how to honour our need for belonging and our need for authenticity, while holding ourselves with deep self-compassion. The intention of the retreat is to support participants in reconnecting with their inner voice, integrating different parts of themselves, and moving toward a more authentic and connected way of living and relating.
